How to Create Custom Tip Amounts on the S700 Reader

The tip screen on your S700 card reader used to show the same $5 / $10 / $15 buttons to every boater, on every sale. Now you can set your own — dollar amounts, percentages, or a smart mix — so the options match what you're actually selling.

How to set it up Customized Tip Amounts

  1. Go to Settings → Hardware → Tip Settings.

  2. Turn on Allow credit card tips.

  3. Choose a tip style: Fixed, Percentage, or Smart.

  4. Enter your three tip amounts and click Save tip presets.

Your new tip options show up on the S700 within a few minutes — no need to restart the reader.

Tip styles you can choose

  • Fixed amounts — Three set dollar amounts every boater sees, no matter the total. Great for a ship's store or counter sales. Example: $5 · $10 · $15

  • Percentages — Three percentages of the sale total, so the suggested tip scales with the bill. Better suited to larger tickets like fuel or service. Example: 5% · 10% · 15%

  • Smart hybrid — Round-dollar amounts on smaller sales, then percentages once the total passes a threshold you set. The best of both when one reader handles a range of sale sizes. Example: $1 / $2 / $5 under $25, then 5% / 10% / 15% above $25

Good to know

  • Already collecting tips? Nothing changes automatically. Your S700 keeps showing your current $5 / $10 / $15 options until you decide to adjust them — no disruption at the register.

  • One configuration per marina. Your tip presets apply to all of your marina's S700 readers at once. They can't yet be set differently by terminal or location.

  • Availability. Tip presets are available to POS marinas on USD. The tip editor appears wherever credit card tips can be turned on.
