Before you start: get the reference number, date, and line item details for this credit from your Dockwa Sync Details page. These values come from Dockwa's records and need to match exactly — don't estimate or reformat them.
Steps
Confirm the credit memo exists. These steps assume the credit memo has already been created in QuickBooks. If it hasn't, create it first before continuing.
Navigate to the Customer’s page.
Find the related Invoice with an Open Balance.
Open the invoice directly and click Receive payment.
Select the related open invoice(s). The original invoice you opened is already selected, but review the list of outstanding transactions, and check the box next to additional invoice(s) you want the credit applied to.
Apply the credit. Scroll down to the Credits section of the same screen and check the box next to the credit memo. QuickBooks will apply the credit up to whichever is smaller — the remaining invoice balance or the remaining credit balance — and reduce the invoice balance accordingly.
Verify the remaining amount. Check the Payment amount QuickBooks calculates:
$0 if the credit fully covers the invoice
The leftover balance if the credit only partially covers it.
If a payment amount shows up unexpectedly, double check that the credit was applied correctly before continuing.
Save. Both the invoice and the credit memo will update to reflect the amount applied
